WEST RIVER CATAMARAN RACING ASSOCIATION

WRCRA FLEET UPDATES

THE WRCRA FLEET

The catamaran fleet at WRSC is the largest beach cat fleet on the Chesapeake Bay and among that on the East Coast hosted by a single sailing club. With a concentration of F16, F18, A-Class (foil/non-foiling), and Nacra 20, along with a couple one-off boats in the fleet. Each has its own fleet captain and information page (click image below).

West River Catamaran Racing Association (WRCRA) started back in 2XXX, as Trail Blazers not Blue Blazers.

There had been some overlap in WRSC and WRCRA membership, but under catamaran sailor and commodore Chris Ford, WRCRA essentially moved into WRSC when they lost their homebase in Galesville.

WRCRA Tuesday Night Races

Our Tuesday Night Catamaran Races are a staple event for sailing on the West River. Using the same marks as Wednesday Night Racing and some others, we do long distance time on time racing every Tuesday.

Races run mid-April through September, switching into Frostbites late in the year.

WRCRA Frostbite Races

September to the Sunday after Thanksgiving, the WRCRA Frostbites keep our sailors on the water till the very last bit of drysuit-free sailing.
