Sailing is the perfect sport for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors, and unlike so many other sports, it is one that you can continue to due throughout your life. The best part is that regardless of your age, ability, or limitation, sailing has something for everyone. So whatever your reason for wanting to learn, we’re here to share our knowledge in a safe, fun, and relaxing environment.

We offer a multitude of adult sailing classes ranging from beginner to advance levels and taught in Flying Scots. We use small sailboats as they provide immediate feedback and experience with all aspects of sailing. Our adult courses are available for ages 18 and up. Our objective is to give you as much on the water time as possible focusing on hands-on learning.

We are located on the beautiful West River with it’s wide open waters and minimum boat traffic
Afterwards, you have access to our shared boat program for free for the first year.

2026 PROGRAM

Sessions are a weekend long about once a month during the season and run from 9am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, along with a short session on Friday Night from 6-8pm. The Friday night session is a great opportunity to get a jump on the weekend of learning while also a great time to meet fellow members, see the club, and start to find your place within our community. We recognize that getting out to the club may be a challenge for some on a Friday night, therefore Friday is not required but highly recommended.

May LTS: May 29th-31st

June LTS: June 12th-14th

July LTS: July 17th-19th

August LTS: August 14th- 16th

Beginner Sessions cost $350 for members and $445-815 for nonmembers depending on age, while advanced sessions are for members only and cost $299 (Saturday and Sunday)

Please note that membership is for a family unit (ex. a couple taking learn to sail = 1 member and 1 nonmember in costs).

The non-member price includes one-year Provisional Membership and full access to our Shared Boat Program, giving you and your family access to everything the club has to offer for a year to get to know everyone who's a part of our community and more time on the water! We hope, that after a year with us, you will become a part of community for many years to come.

Absolutely! You can learn to sail in a weekend, but it's important to manage your expectations. While you won't become a pro overnight, you will gain the basic knowledge and skills needed to be safe on the water.

Our weekend courses ensure that you understand the fundamentals of sailing, including essential techniques and safety protocols. However, the key to becoming proficient is practice. Time on the water is your best teacher, and the more you sail, the more you'll improve.

As we always emphasize in class, know your limits, practice regularly, and build on your skills from there. With dedication and time, you'll find yourself growing more confident and capable in sailing.

Sail with an Experienced Sailor: Ask to join more experienced sailors on their sailing adventures. You'll gain valuable insights and practical knowledge just by observing and sailing with them.
Practice with a Buddy: Find a sailing buddy at your skill level or slightly above. Practicing together can be less intimidating and more fun.
Ask Us to Set You Up with a Mentor: We offer mentorship programs where you can be paired with an experienced sailor. This personalized guidance can significantly boost your confidence and skills.
Participate in Club Events: Join club events like regattas or casual sailing days, such as our Saturday River Tours. These provide structured opportunities to practice in a supportive environment.
Ask for Help: Don't hesitate to ask for advice or assistance from our instructors or more experienced sailors. We’re here to provide tips and help you feel more comfortable.
Private Lessons: Consider booking private lessons to build your confidence and skills. One-on-one instruction can be tailored to your needs and help you progress more quickly.

Remember, the more time you spend on the water, the more comfortable and proficient you will become. Trust in your learning process, and don't rush yourself. Everyone progresses at their own pace.

Start with easier, more familiar waters and gradually challenge yourself with more difficult conditions as you become more confident. Stay closer to the club and remember to always carry a VHF radio tuned to channel 5.

HOW TO REGISTER

If you are registering for a existing members, simply add your session to cart and pay.

FOR NON-MEMBERS. Follow these steps.

Click on the sign-up button on the right side of the page.
Select Membership Category, which is age based or current membership status.
Select the class that you wish to take.
Add to cart
Repeat as necessary (use additional family member)
Complete payment process.
Fill out LTS Membership Application which is linked here or on your receipt.
Create your Member Portal Access account.
